About Us

Why choose us

Rose Cottage will provide opportunities to encourage all children to learn new skills through play and engagement with their environments; build their confidence and work harmoniously alongside each other. A well planned and resourced curriculum will be provided to enhance children’s’ learning. The curriculum will be presented using the “Just Right Challenge” and within a well-modulated sensory environment.

Rose Cottage aims to provide children with resources and equipment which help to enhance and consolidate their knowledge, skills, interests, and aptitudes.

*Extra-murals offered at Rose Cottage during the school day through external partners include Karate, Playball, Clayplay and Dance. Not all extra-murals are offered within the school morning, some are after class.

Our Approach

  • Model of learning
  • Teaching Plans
  • Teacher/Child Ratio
Image
Based on the National Curriculum, our Model of Learning uses children’s specific developmental needs as a starting point and differentiates them appropriately to ensure the inclusion of: •
    • Boys and girls
    • Children learning English as a second language
    • Children from minority ethnic groups
    • Children who are gifted and talented
    • Children with sensory processing difficulties
    • Children with specific barriers to learning

Children will be individually assessed (developmentally and academically) to identify any specific learning needs. Progress in all developmental and learning areas will be closely monitored and will be reviewed quarterly. Individual education plans (IEPs) will be drawn up where necessary to target and support specific learning areas. These will be drawn up in collaboration with parents, teachers and consulting therapists. IEPs will have an additional monthly charge.

By keeping the teacher / child ratio low, Rose Cottage is committed to ensuring individual attention and a nurturing learning environment. A maximum ratio of 1:16 will be maintained in all classes. Additional class assistants are available to provide classroom support.
