Teachers

Lilian (Lily) Tshuma: Hippo Class Teacher

Lilian is an enthusiastic preschool teacher with a deep love for nurturing young minds. My mission as an educator is to create a warm and engaging environment where every child feels cherished and empowered to discover their unique talents. I hold a Diploma in Educare, where I gained a solid understanding of child development. Having been at Rose Cottage for over 4 years I have also learnt a lot from my mentors and colleagues. I am currently the 4-5 year old teacher however I have worked in the Grade R Class as both an assistant and then a teacher.

I believe that learning should be a joyful and hands on experience. Creating a safe and inclusive space is paramount in my classroom, as the more children feel secure and loved the more willing they are to take risks and embrace challenges.

Emma Williams: Hippo Class Assistant

Emma is a warm, dedicated, and enthusiastic educator who has been working in childcare since 2021. She joined the Rose Cottage team in 2024, and from the very beginning it has felt like home to her. The children's curiosity, honesty, and joyful energy continue to be her greatest inspiration.

She is passionate about being part of each child’s world, guiding them through new experiences, and supporting them as they grow into confident, happy individuals. Whether it’s witnessing a child master a new skill, overcome a challenge, or light up with excitement, Emma sees these moments as the most rewarding part of her work.

Emma looks forward to many more years of helping children learn, explore, and discover who they are.
